The H-team: Meet Louise
Meet Louise and her role as a salesperson at Hectaar
At Hectaar, we take pride in our driven team, who work with enthusiasm every day to realize our new-build homes. Today, we shine the spotlight on our colleague Louise, who has been passionately and expertly assisting our clients in finding their new home or investment for two years now. Meet Louise and her role as a sales representative at Hectaar.
Could you introduce yourself?
"I'm Louise, 28 years old, raised in the rural area of Ardooie where I still love living today. I spent most of my high school years at the Hotel School in Koksijde, where I boarded for 4 years and I still look back on that time with fondness.
After my schooling in Koksijde, I attended Vives College in Bruges. After 3 years, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management with a specialization in Legal Practice and entered the workforce. I started as a real estate agent where my legal background on one hand, and my social and commercial skills on the other, made me feel at home immediately.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family (I'm a very devoted aunt), friends, and I love cooking or dining out. If you're looking for a nice restaurant, feel free to ask!"
What role do you play within Hectaar and how long have you been active?
"After working as a real estate agent for 3.5 years, I started as a sales representative at Hectaar in October 2021. As a sales representative at Hectaar, our tasks are very diverse and extensive. Our main task is to guide potential buyers in purchasing their new-build home. This involves providing a detailed explanation at the office and often a site visit.
Each of us is responsible for several projects, ensuring the plans are on point, the finishes are correctly documented in the work specifications, and we maintain contact with the buyers throughout the entire construction process. We also liaise with every department within Hectaar: development, execution, accounting, marketing, etc.
We also handle the finishing of unsold houses. I've been able to design dozens of different kitchens and bathrooms. A beautifully finished home as the end result, along with compliments on our work, is a very enjoyable part of the job."
How did you end up at Hectaar?
"When you work as a real estate agent in West Flanders, you must know Hectaar. That was no different for me. Life as a self-employed real estate agent can be challenging in a rapidly changing real estate market.
I was looking for security but also a challenge and definitely didn't want to leave the real estate world. Hectaar crossed my path, and we were immediately on the same wavelength."
Which achievements are you particularly proud of?
"In 2023, we launched the project in Bruges, De Gendarmerie (Sint-Pieterskaai - Vaartstraat) and the project in Knokke, Sluiskapelle. Both projects are currently under construction, but the preparation and launch of these projects were quite demanding and took a fair bit of time.
The Gendarmerie was a challenge both technically and legally because we're combining a new-build project with the renovation of a protected building here. The smooth sale of the Sluiskapelle project in Knokke was a nice reward for the extensive preparation work.
The detached house in the Varendijkhof neighborhood in Roeselare will soon be delivered. I chose all the finishes for this house. From the lighting to the kitchen to the floors, everything coming together for a beautiful end result that appeals to the public is something the team can really be proud of."
How does Hectaar work towards promoting a positive team culture?
"We are a young team with hard workers, each one giving their all for Hectaar. Besides working hard, we also make time to escape the bustling construction activities. A refreshing drink on Fridays, an Easter breakfast, exercising together, a fall barbecue, a spontaneous lunch, a Sinterklaas snack... we gladly make time for these."
What advice would you give to new colleagues at Hectaar?
"Give yourself the time to get to know everything and everyone. There's quite a lot involved in building and selling new-build projects. Each department contributes, and we all need each other. So, it's really beneficial sometimes to do something extra for a colleague in need, as they can also return the favor."
What are you most looking forward to in your future at Hectaar?
"I'm obviously looking forward to seeing our various projects come to life. Our move to the new office is approaching, and I'm looking forward to that as well. Additionally, I hope to make many more people happy with their new home."
What is your favorite Hectaar project from the current offering?
"I've mentioned them before, but both De Gendarmerie in Bruges and Sluiskapelle in Knokke are among my favorites. Not only the countless hours of preparatory work but also the style, architecture, possibilities, location, etc., make them my personal favorites."
