A new custom home: the building adventure of Herwig and Nathalia

For Herwig and Nathalia, it all started with a sign on Zandstraat in Lichtervelde for a house for sale. "I immediately called the number on the sign," Herwig says. They were looking for a building plot, but quickly discovered that Hectaar could offer much more than just a plot. "From the first conversation with Santa Maes, we felt heard and understood," Nathalia says. "It was clear that our project was important to them and that we could create something unique together."
Personal approach from the first contact
The original design didn't quite match their wishes, but through Custom Building, they were able to adjust everything. "We drew inspiration from another project and together translated it into our own home," they say. For Herwig and Nathalia, it was important that the living spaces were practical and spacious enough, which with the guidance of Hectaar and the architect proved no problem at all.
Clear guidance during the building process
Project leader Sofie Maertens took the lead during the building process. "She kept us constantly informed, invited us to regular visits, and was always accessible. If something came up, she immediately took the initiative to solve it," according to Nathalia.
Making choices - from facade bricks, roof tiles, windows and doors to kitchen appliances, floors, and lighting - was intensive. "But thanks to the clear overview and guidance from Hectaar, everything proceeded in a structured manner. Suppliers always took the time to brainstorm with us," Herwig says.
Satisfied with the quality and the result
Although they have not yet fully moved in, they are satisfied with the result so far. "The structural work and masonry are of high quality, the coordination between subcontractors went perfectly, and thanks to the good weather, everything was delivered about six weeks ahead of schedule. Small problems were always quickly and professionally resolved."
