The H-team: Meet Santa
With a passion for new construction, she guides clients to their new home.
When Santa went looking for a house herself, she knew for sure: this is what she wants to do. Today, she helps others in that same search, with just as much enthusiasm and involvement. Three years ago, she swapped her role as a teacher for a new challenge in the real estate sector. Today, she is one of the regular faces at Hectaar, where she guides clients to their ideal new-build homes. Read here how she found her way to Hectaar and why she feels completely at home there.
Could you introduce yourself?
I am Santa Maes, grew up in Deinze and now I live in the green, quiet Oostrozebeke. In my free time, I prefer to be outside: walking, cycling, gardening, or having a barbecue with friends. Besides that, I love dancing and taking care of my pets. After studying primary education, I worked as a teacher for four years, a job I did with heart and soul. However, I started feeling an itch when I went looking for a house myself. My interest in real estate grew quickly, and I decided to take a three-year evening course. That decision led me to take my first steps in existing real estate. I soon noticed that I had a preference for higher quality projects. This grew my interest in new construction, which I now work on with much more satisfaction.
What role do you fulfill within Hectaar and how long have you been active here?
Since May 2022, I've been working at Hectaar as a real estate agent. My job is quite varied. I guide clients in purchasing their new-build homes, provide advice where needed, and ensure smooth communication throughout the entire process. Additionally, I oversee the accurate plans of the projects I'm responsible for and ensure a clear specifications document. To do this, I work closely with all departments within Hectaar, from development to marketing, which makes the work even more interesting.
How did you end up at Hectaar?
I ended up at Hectaar through someone who already worked there. Her enthusiasm about the work atmosphere, the varied job responsibilities, and the focus on quality was contagious. After an initial introduction meeting, I immediately felt that the company culture suited me. That click was there from day one – and that feeling has only been confirmed since I started.
What accomplishments are you particularly proud of and why?
The trust of our clients, especially investors who come back to buy from us again. That is the best compliment for me: it shows that they believe in our approach and quality.
How does Hectaar promote a positive team culture?
The combination of professionalism and room for relaxation. Team buildings and fun events are regularly organized. These moments strengthen the mutual bond with colleagues and create a pleasant workplace.
What advice would you give to new colleagues who have just started at Hectaar?
Be curious and dare to ask questions. In the beginning, a lot of information comes at you since you collaborate with different departments and every project is unique. By actively asking questions and thinking along, you'll learn the fastest. And importantly: you're definitely not alone, colleagues are always ready to help you!
What are you most looking forward to in your future at Hectaar?
To make many more people happy with their new home.
What is your favorite Hectaar project that is currently for sale?
It is difficult to choose one favorite project. Each project has something unique, which makes it attractive to different buyers. That keeps it interesting.
What is your Hectaar Highlight?
