Meet Stijn and his role as project manager at Hectaar

Today, we shine the spotlight on our colleague Stijn, who has been passionately and expertly working as a project leader for almost two years. Get to know Stijn and his role as project leader at Hectaar.
Can you introduce yourself?
"I'm Stijn, 37 years old, and father to Vic & Marthe. I live with my family in rural Kruiseke. I spent my student years in the historic city of Bruges, where I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in applied architecture. This choice was driven by my search for a creative job that focuses not only on architecture but also on the practical building process. To this day, I'm still passionate about everything related to drawing and interior design. Outside of work, I enjoy running, good food, and spending quality time with my family."
What role do you fulfill at Hectaar and how long have you been active?
"Since April 2022, I have been part of the Hectaar team as a project leader, a position characterized by a lot of diversity. I oversee the ins and outs of projects from the study phase to completion, steering a construction team of experts and ensuring projects are completed within the agreed time frame. Building a new home for our buyers gives me great satisfaction."
How did you end up at Hectaar?
"My path to Hectaar was somewhat coincidental, after receiving fewer opportunities in a comparable position elsewhere. Following a conversation and the necessary connection, I decided to join here, where I was given the freedom and trust to create my own schedule and assign contractors."
What achievements are you particularly proud of?
"One of the achievements I'm particularly proud of is the sleek, standalone Custom-Build home in Meulebeke. The meticulous follow-up and meeting the client's wishes and specified quality make this project tangible and showcase the results of my work. Of course, every result is also due to the great collaboration with subcontractors and colleagues!"
How is a positive team culture promoted within Hectaar?
"Hectaar has a positive team culture, with a driven and motivated team where every victory is celebrated with the ringing of the ship's bell in the office. The year concludes with team-building activities, during which we always do a fun activity with the whole team."
What advice would you give to new colleagues at Hectaar?
"My advice to new colleagues at Hectaar is to give themselves the necessary time to learn new things. From my own experience, I've learned to worry less about things I have no control over."
What are you most looking forward to in your future at Hectaar?
"I look forward to further development and the contribution I can make to the Custom-Build story, where I take on the challenge of providing clients with the necessary support and guidance in shaping their dream home to the desired end result."
What is your favorite Hectaar project from the current offerings?
"Regarding my favorite Hectaar project, I don’t think specifically of one project. My preference goes to homes and small-scale projects in a green environment outside the city."
